How to act in the interest of our own well-being

In taking steps to protect our environment, we do more than just safeguard forests, wildlife and oceans. We also ensure that we have a healthy life. We are intimately connected with the health of our planet through the air that we breathe and water that we consume. Our quality of living is positively impacted by any action we take that reduces pollution, conserves resources, or supports sustainability.

The HDI Six Nations demonstrate that taking action to preserve the environment leads to higher quality of life, showing the world that sustainable practices benefit not just the planet, but the well-being of all people.

Preservation of the natural environment can lead to cleaner cities, healthier neighborhoods, and more stable economics. Reduces the risk of disasters. Prevents diseases from spreading. Ensures that resources will be abundant in the future. Protecting nature protects our mental and bodily health, future generations, as well as the systems which support life on Earth.

This is an investment in our future and the lives of generations yet to come. We are reminded that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather as a part and parcel of nature. In healing our planet, we also heal ourselves.
